Thousands of Graduates… Hundreds of Jobs…
iGradu8.com was created primarily to provide graduate development opportunities. We are not a recruitment company! Within an economic downturn employment is often difficult to find, and in recent years it has become an absolute nightmare for graduates. There are now fewer opportunities for graduates finding work than ever before. iGradu8.com therefore has come up with a host of services and solutions that will enable you as a graduate to develop your knowledge base not only in relation to your academic discipline, but in terms of understanding how to make yourself stand out from the crowd.
When leaving university and entering into the job market, the first thing that will more than likely happen is that you will go to interview, after interview, each with the same outcome – leaving unsuccessfully. To be successful you need to stand out from the crowd. At first you may feel that the interview went really well, but, the truth is, you lack the experience that other candidates have. This experience can be difficult to gain on your own, unless you know what to do. iGradu8.com feel that you are limited to what you can do, we believe that you will fit into one of these 5 categories:
- Attempt to enter into a large corporate company in a graduate type role – Typical companies include the big 4 accountancy firms (e.g. PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, Earnst & Young), who usually expect a minimum of a 2:1 and around 300 UCAS points. Not many graduates will even get close to these roles, unless you are exceptional, or have gained unique relevant experience.
- Depending on your degree, you will attempt to enter into a smaller firm, who inevitably have a smaller team. You may think that your potential to enter into these firms is greater than that of the larger organisations, this is not an accurate thought by any means.
- You will attempt to gather some voluntary experience at a local charity, or with family/friend of the family. – Brilliant experience that will make you stand out from the crowd.
- You will have given up looking for a graduate role, and as a result will be working within an unskilled job, such as a telephonist at a customer service centre, mundane retail worker, or a waiter/waitress at a local restaurant.
- You are an unemployed graduate, and are claiming job seekers allowance – Welcome to 2011!
Immediately you can see the difficulty and limitations to finding employment as a graduate. Think of this list as a ladder if you will. The further down you go, the less motivated you may become, and the more likely you are to settle for any job. Why should you be satisfied with putting up with a poorly paid, miserable role, when you have accumulated significant levels of personal debt, and are extremely capable of doing so much more.
Read the material on the site, and you will stand out from the crowd at future interviews, and your CV will be highly differentiated and unique. There are too many generic graduates, don’t become another statistic!
